WaterBrick Product Specifications

WaterBricks are revolutionary, one-of-a-kind, industrial containers that can serve multiple functions. They can be used to deliver bulk water, food, medicine, chemicals and other life essentials, making them ideal for use in natural disaster areas and developing countries.

Once emptied of their original contents, WaterBricks can then be refilled with on-site gravel, sand or dirt and re-used as building blocks to construct basic homes, clinics, schools and other structures.

WaterBricks have one utility and two design patents pending. Listed below are their key features:

  • Composition – WaterBricks are made from High Density Polyethylene virgin resin plastic (HDPE), that are recyclable, FDA approved and BPA free.
  • Durability – A rugged design allows WaterBricks to be stacked up to 14 high, even when full. When cross stacked, they interlock to create further stability, making them easy to transport and store.
  • Longevity – WaterBricks can withstand harsh environmental conditions. They resist decay and rotting. Their plastic composition contains a UV additive with up to a 15-year lifespan or more.
  • Construction Strength – The male and female locking lugs on WaterBricks tightly fit together; no mortar or cement needed to secure them. When used in construction, they can be further fortified by 3/4" PVC pipes 14" long provided by WaterBrick International, which vertically lock the joints together for permanent cohesion.
  • Shape and Size – WaterBricks are rectangular blocks 9" W x 18" L x 6" H. They are easy to handle, store, load on pallets and transport. Their rectangular shape prevents them from rolling or falling as other containers do. They also fit the design model for sale and distribution in such stores as Home Depot, Lowes and Cabela's.
  • Transportability – One pallet can hold 140 WaterBricks, height 7 feet, 6 inches. A semi-truck that is 53 feet long will hold 30 pallets or 4,200 WaterBricks. WaterBricks can also be placed on pallets, shrink-wrapped and air-dropped with parachutes for delivery to remote or hazardous locations.
  • Capacity – A WaterBrick can hold 3.5 gallons (13 liters) of water, making them smaller and more easily carried than a conventional 5-gallon bulky container.
  • Impact Resistance – WaterBricks will not break, burst, crack or leak even over time and in harsh environments. They are sufficiently strong to withstand parachute airdrops, making them ideal for delivery to people in remote destinations or emergency situations.
  • Tightly Sealed – Screw-on caps provide a strong seal that makes WaterBricks impenetrable by insects and rodents. And because they're airtight, they eliminate most food odors.
  • Manufacturing Process – WaterBricks are blow-molded. Dow Chemical is WaterBrick International's main supplier for the High Density Polyethylene resins (HDPE), used in the product. WaterBricks are currently manufactured by Custom-Pak in Clinton, Iowa; however, to increase capacity, discussions are underway to build a new manufacturing plant in the shared trade-free zone in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

By manufacturing additional molds, WaterBrick International would be able to license companies outside the U.S. to produce product, taking advantage of lower manufacturing, labor and transportation costs.
  • Applications – The four main applications for WaterBricks are:

    • Humanitarian – Deliver and store water, food and medicine to people in need and secondarily serve as building blocks from which to construct basic shelters
    • Commercial – Transport and store diverse commercial products such as computer chips, dog food and chemicals
    • Military – Build temporary or permanent bunkers, government outposts, security checkpoints, parapet walls, command posts and forward military positions
    • Consumer – Store water and food for boating, camping and storm or disaster preparedness

WaterBricks come in several configurations and colors, and have available several options depending upon use. Please browse our product list below for details on each product. Custom colors are available upon request.
